K-12 Leadership
A master’s or doctoral degree in K-12 Leadership prepares you to meet nationally recognized standards in educational leadership. Generally, students who earn this degree will be seeking positions as principals or superintendents. The job outlook for these positions, according to the US Dept. of Labor, is expected to be very good for the next ten years primarily due to the retirement of existing administrators. This position is well suited if you enjoy working and excel in a position of leadership. You still play a crucial role in education and have the opportunity to positively influence the lives of developing children, yet your day to day activities will revolve around maintaining operational excellence.
Profession Development
The K-12 Leadership degree is critical for your professional growth if you aspire to an administration position in education. The core of your program will focus on leadership skills, technology’s role in the school, student growth and development, and the dynamics of the school as a community, to name a few. You will develop communication and interpersonal skills critical for shaping your future role as an administrator working with the teachers in your school. Personnel management, staff supervision, and models of instruction are some of the key components of this job.
